Its obviously taking people a while to recover from this most memorable ride! Mark and I were out for 5 hours 30mins - our longest ever! Perhaps we should have opted for the short ride and broken a few checks, then ridden around again if we needed more exercise! Certainly didn't need a second round of the long one! I ran out of water after 3 hours 40minutes. We had packed isotonic drinks as well as 3 litres - who would have thought thast wouldn't be enough. That muddy section, followed by the humungous climb that conveniently wasn't mentioned at the briefing paid its toll. We also got confused when we ended up on trail used on the outward journey, not to mention missing the paper at the water tower. Pretty knackered by then - the brain stopped working! Thanks to the kind soul who gave me a few sips of 100plus. Thanks to Mark too of course, who shared his last half litre of water.x

I have to say there was some great riding in amongst the suffering - palm and rubber plantations thoroughly enjoyed, not least because they were the covered sections. It was mighty hot out there. I also saw a buffalo stampede (which Mark thinks is a figment of my imagination), a herd of goats and loads of egrets. The joys of nature.

Thanks have to go to the hares (I think) - they must had ridden record distances in the reccying of this one!

BASH 182 (Long Ride) rates at the top if not the very best BASH I have ridden in 10 years in Malaysia, and Haris's write up is so precise and well written that I savoured every moment of it again whilst reading it.

I traced it on my GPS, so I will certainly be repeating the enjoyment/torture soon, as well as in reverse, (or should I say anti-clockwise!)

Well done Hares...the variety of trail & scenery was one of the very best.

hahah My brother Kelolo,

I can assure you we have done it, both backwards, forward, sideways, upwards, downwards, all-ways looking for a real good hash day(trails), but anyway, tht is a thought!

Cheers.
